What do you study and why have you decided for this field?
»I am studying Biomedical Engineering in Regensburg. I have always been interested in technology and I have also always liked medicine. My current studies represent a combination of these two fields and are therefore a perfect fit for me.«
You come from the German region of Bavaria. How did our region, Saarland, welcome you?
»Saarland really welcomed me well, I felt very comfortable here right away. I was surprised, but is partly quite similar to Bavaria. For example, the people here also like to eat a hearty meal once in a while. The proximity to France is of course convenient for short trips and there are also many beautiful spots of nature around Saarbrucken.«
Why did you decide for AcesoMed GmbH?
»AcesoMed GmbH convinced me mainly through the application process. Unfortunately, I was not able to visit the company in advance because of the long distance. It was therefore all the more important that I was given many insights into the work that would await me and that I was able to speak directly with my future colleagues. That way, I quickly realized that I would be well mentored and would fit into the team. I was also able to see for myself that “real” tasks awaited me and that I could learn a lot.«
What excites you about your job?
»I like creative work, which is why I enjoy developing and designing mechanical product components. I always have to think of new approaches to solutions, implement them and then test them. This way, I get instant feedback on my work.«
»I think variation is an important factor and fortunately my work at AcesoMed was really diverse. From the conception in CAD, to 3D printing, to prototype construction, I was involved in all development steps. So I got a lot of insights into different areas of product development. I think that as an intern, at AcesoMed you can get to know areas of the company that you wouldn’t otherwise be aware of.«
What makes AcesoMed GmbH special for you?
»AcesoMed GmbH is not a big corporation, which is why the collaboration with colleagues is more personal. I’ve always had the feeling that people work together to find the best solution and try to break new ground, to be innovative. The attitude ‘We’ve always done it this way.’ does not exist here and everyone can contribute their part to the big picture. The working atmosphere is productive, but at the same time really relaxed.«
What tip do you have for job seekers and other interns?
»I would advise other applicants not to shy away from smaller, younger companies because they can give you more room for creativity and variety, and you can take on more responsibility there.«
